City with a national park within walking distance

Nairobi City County government has rolled out a new strategy to promote the city as the best tourism destination of choice being the only city with a national park within walking distance.

County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service Anastasia Nyalita said that the strategy of holding public tours across the city targets to showcase the unique tourism attraction sites to draw both domestic and international tourists.

“Nairobi is the green city under the sun which has a national park in the entire world, it is a home of unique sites and untold stories which are tourism fortunes for the city,” she said.

Nyalita said that Nairobi city has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, hence the need to explore.

“We want to market Nairobi the best city in the world because of its unique nature, culture history and heritage,” she added.

She was speaking at the National Museum of Kenya’s Nairobi Gallery where she made several walking tours along Kenyatta Avenue, Muindi Mbingu, Banda Streets and the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) accompanied by the county chief officer in charge of City Culture, Arts and Tourism.

In his manifesto, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja promised to make Nairobi a pro-business city, by boosting trade and tourism sectors.

Governor Sakaja said that the city is home to leading hotels, ranging from five-star to two-star, as well as over 100 unclassified hotels.
